I was really excited when I first received the NIV Worship Together Bible. I have many different study Bibles and enjoy reading a variety of study notes. This Bible was just not for me, and not what I am looking for in a Bible. My expectation was that the notes in the Bible would be centered on worship, connecting bible verses to popular music, and themed around culture of bible times and how they worshipped. I was wrong.
Simply put, the notes for this Bible are song lyrics, and behind the music looks at contemporary worship songs. It isn’t really a study bible and that was what I was wanting. The 3 star rating doesn’t necessarily come from the content being bad, just not what I want in a Bible. There are a lot of bibles out there, and this would be one to skip. I didn’t have any issues with the layout or specific content the Bible had, it just wasn’t valuable/useful for me. Maybe a lover of contemporary worship music would love the stories behind favorite music, but that isn’t enough for me.
I received this book free from the publisher through the BookSneeze.com® <http://BookSneeze.com> book review bloggers program. I was not required to write a positive review.
