The day before Fiji

It’s a weird feeling knowing when a dream from the past is about to become a reality.  When I was in Bible college about 7 years ago I felt like God was calling me to take a short term missions trip to Fiji.  Tomorrow, I finally get to realize that dream.  I’m excited, but it’s a different feeling than if I was just heading out with a group of other people.  Parents have entrusted their kids lives to me; and their lives halfway around the world no less!

I haven’t been sleeping very much lately.  My hope is that my body is just preparing for the long days and less hours of sleep, but I think it’s probably more stress related since my heartburn is back.  I’m just remembering when Jesus said in Luke 12:22 to not worry about life.  I know everything on this trip is going to amazing and life changing.

I’ve been on many domestic missions trips before, but this will be my first overseas missions trip ever, and I got to train the students going!  Sometimes my job is the best job on the planet.  I packed yesterday, and only have about 15 things left on my to do list before we leave tomorrow.  Thanks to anyone reading this who donated all the materials we will be bringing with us.

My final thought before I head off is that I’m already feeling the bug to become  a missions trip junkie.  I’d love to be able to do at least two international trips a year, and more domestic.  The feeling knowing I’ll be going to talk to people who may have never heard about Jesus is unreal.  I take for granted that just about any person in the US has some sort of knowledge about God, Jesus, or church.  To be able to meet, and talk to someone who has never heard is just so rewarding. And the fact that I get to preach, TWICE, is just really humbling.  I’m in awe of the amazing opportunity I’ve been given.

When I get back, I’ll have a whole journal of blogs to write and upload with pictures so expect that.  Until then, I’ll post updates to facebook when I have wifi.  Until then, “Moce”.
