So I was browsing pinterest and came across mapcrunch.com.  It looked awesome, and I was bored.  If you aren’t familiar with the concept, here is the basic premise: You are knocked out, and wake up in a random location somewhere in the world.  Mapcrunch will do this for you.  Wake up, head to an airport to win.

How to Mapcrunch:

1.  Go to mapcrunch.com

2.  Select all or some countries

3.  Click the stealth box

4.  Click Go

5.  Start walking until you find an airport.

SO I started this and feel like I cannot give up.  Below, I’ll be blogging updates as I run around.

Start: Looks like some remote desert.  I passed a car driving on the opposite side, so I’m not in the USA.

  • Finally found some signs, I decided to head East, 51 Kilometers to a place called… I forget
  • I’ve passed some shanty’s that remind me of driving through South Africa, and I saw a sweet animal crossing sign that looked like a kudu or something.  Maybe in a Southern African country
  • Interesting development: Found a sign saying 5 kms to Rems Reich…Definitely in Germany…
  • That place I forgot is called Willowmore.  In the easy version, I suppose you could google it and locate a route…I’m flying solo with no outside help
  • piccccI’m now thinking that African looking deer I mentioned earlier was a figment of thinking I was in Africa

  • Came to a T in the road.  Willowmore 39km, Uniondale 23… Where am I????  132km to George, also not helpful.  I’ve deicded to turn right and head West for Uniondale.
  • Passed a truck with a company name.  DenRon; am I in Denmark?  I could be.
  • Only 10 Km from Uniondale.  this moves too slow.
  • Arrived at Uniondale with no hope left.  Turned off the hide area to reveal that I am in:
  • South Africa…  I googled uniondale to the closest airport , 91km to the airport in Plettenberg Bay.  Had I continued on to Geroge, there would have been one there..

Record: 0-1
