Live Dead: Day 18

Today’s main topic was about unreached people groups.  I never thought about it before today, but I take for granted all the amazing resources available to me just by living in the United States.  I have access to hundreds of thousands of sermons, christian music, hundreds of translations of bibles (both print and electronic) and a plethora of christian resources.  All with two swipes of my iPad, or a few clicks on my laptop, or three buttons on my phone.  It’s almost sick the gluttony of Bible resources I have, when people all over the world aren’t even given a chance to hear about Jesus.

One question I asked my self was staggering: Why aren’t there enough people going and telling others?  I’m sure it isn’t for a lack of God calling people.  God more than anyone wants these people and all people reached with the Gospel of Jesus.  I would suggest that God is calling people to go, and they aren’t saying “yes”.  Have we become so comfortable in our living, that it’s easier to say no to God and wilt away His calling than to answer with a resounding “YES!” and see the amazing things that God has in store for those He has called?

I’m very deliberate about discerning God’s voice and will for my life.  Do I always answer with a yes when God prompts me, no, I don’t always.  But enough prodding gets my attention, and I finally get on board with what God is asking.  I like to think that while I may miss the first or second attempts of God to get my attention in His leading, that eventually I hear and listen and then obey.  That doesn’t seem to be happening.  Who are all these people God is calling to go, that are fighting God off and staying?  My prayer is that I would never be one of those people, and that you wouldn’t either.

What would you do if God called you to go?
