Spaghetios? Remember these? the nutritionally void but supper delicious treat we all loved as kids. Well apparently my tastes have changed because they are disgusting as an adult. There is a tomato soup if it can be called that, which tastes like a watered down version of the sauce that spaghetios swim in. yuck. What an insult to real tomato soup. Actually it’s so bad it’s an insult to all tomato products. If any of them knew that something this gross existed in their category they would be hugely offended.

In general, hospital food is pretty bad but I think that the food here might be another weapon of torture. Again I blame Bauer. Sometimes it only half cooked, sometimes it is over cooked. Sometimes I can eat it sometimes I cannot. But all of the time no matter how much salt and pepper I dump on it, it still tastes likes cardboard. And apparently cardboard is supper high in calories because I have gained a whopping fifteen pounds since I’ve been here.

There are two exceptions to the awful food rule. Chocolate mousse cake and Ice chips. This chocolate mousse cake could rival both the dessert I love at Cheesecake factory and dare I say my 500$ wedding cake. Why I spent this much on a cake I’ll never know but it was gorgeous. If the three of these after dinner treats faced off I would have a tough time predicting a clear winner. Kaiser this cake is so good you‘ve almost redeemed yourself from the tomato soup disaster, almost. And the ice chips. Oh the Ice chips are fantastic. I know this because I make whole meals out of them, in place of some of the less desirable food items here.  They are the kind that breaks into a ton of itty-bitty ice chips when you bite into them. Not like cubes that are so rough on the jaw and bust into huge shards.

I asked Sean the other day how he thought these supper ice chips were made and if we could duplicate them at home. He looked at me like I was crazy and then smiled his “oh you poor thing smile”. Sean I miss your smile right now. Let’s run away together….. Sigh……………..while Kaiser has nothing on CPMC, the hospital I did time in a few years ago for our oldest daughter  Chloe, which had food that was actually quite delicious, it does boast  the best ever, Ice chips and chocolate cake. If I were menopausal this would be the place for me. Note to anyone in menopause come for a visit I’ll serve you ice chips and chocolate cake.
